Book of The Week - Week 2

This week's book is The Big Animal Mix-Up by Gareth Edwards and Kanako Usai

I first saw The Big Animal Mix-Up on CBeebies Bedtime Hour.
It is not often that a story read on there jumps out at me but this one did.
Even hubby looked up from his computer to follow the story.
It is just so cleverly written!
C was not paying much attention to the television therefore I decided to order the book in from our local library so we could read it together at home.

Butterfly Butterfly - Linking Books & Craft Activities

Today we made a beautiful butterfly with Grandma.
We prepped for this by cutting out the butterfly wings and punching 4 holes in the centre in which to thread elastic.
C then helped to decortate the butterfly wings by slicking on coloured shapes to both sides.
While we were sticking we discussed the shapes and colours we were using.  I am so impressed at the speed C's colour and shape recognition has come on in recent weeks.
We then threaded elastic through the spine of the wings and slipped them over C's arms.
She looked very cute as she fluttered around the room!

Books: A New Understanding

I have read to C since she was tiny however it was not until a few months ago she has begun to show an understanding of things that were happening in the story.
Now she has begun to act out things that are happening with simple role play.  For me this has been an unexpected, yet wonderful development to see.
